I Don’t go out in the Rain

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Maybe you heard someone say this also. Maybe you feel the same way. Someone said it to me and it caught me by surprise. Life is too short to be picky about which days you are going to enjoy. Have you ever considered how many people would gladly change places with you so that they could ’see’ the rain? How many would jump at the opportunity to go outside under their power and actually feel the rain? If you knew this was the last time you would see the rain would you appreciate it? It might be. According to CIA, 153,000 deaths per day occurred in 2007. I’m sure most of them planned on waking up the next morning whether it rained or not. I’m sure some of them were seemingly in perfect health and died of a stroke. I’m sure some of them were in perfect health and died of a stray bullet or car accident. Tomorrows not promised and you frowning at the rain? When my alarm clock rang this morning, I threw it out the room and laid back down. But I counted my blessings when I finally got up. Some have no reason to wake up. I’m thankful for my clock. I woke up in my own bed in my own place. Some don’t have a job to go to in these days and times. I’m thankful for my job. I walked to the bathroom under my own power. I’m thankful for that. If you open your eyes then you are off to a great start. Celebrate it by watching the fog form on your breath on a cold winter’s morning. Let raindrops hit your tongue during an April shower. Take some time to feel the sun on your skin before you hop back in the cold dry air conditioned building. You are guaranteed to die so why are you so afraid to live. Don’t waste another minute. Spend your life in the world instead of watching it from your window payne. After taking my shower, I got dressed, opened up my door, and it was pouring outside. I stuck my head out the door and let the raindrops hit me a couple of times. It’s going to be a good day.
